The Skin House Snail Mucin 5000 Ampoule Review

Hey Beauty Lovers!

If you are a fan of K-Beauty, you have already been exposed to the magic of snail mucin in skincare. It may sound gross to apply snail slime all over your face, but it's one of my favorite skincare ingredients. These days, there are so many snail mucin options on the market, but I find that Korean skincare products formulate their snail products better than the Western countries.

Snail mucin is a classic component of Korean skincare. It may not seem like much, but it will completely transform your skin. The secret to glowing skin can be found in snail slime.

Benefits of Snail Mucin:

  • Wound Healing- Snail mucin is rich in Growth Factors that help with wound healing. This is great for all skin types, especially acne-prone skin.
  • Skin Protectant- Snail mucin also contains the skin conditioning agent Allantoin. This will help reduce skin scarring. Allantoin is actually approved by the FDA to be used topically to reduce scars.
  • Chemical Exfoliation- Snail mucin contains Glycolic Acid which is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). AHAs are great for cell turnover and anti-aging. It will also be great for acne-prone skin!
  • Hydration- Snail mucin helps the skin retain moisture with Hyaluronic Acid. This will help hydrate the skin better than using moisturizer alone.
  • Antibacterial- Snail mucin itself contains natural Antibacterials. Again, this makes snail mucin great for acne-prone skin.

There are many K-Beauty products formulated with snail mucin, but I prefer it in essences, serums, and ampoules. In my experience, snail mucin works best when sandwiched between toner and moisturizer. For some, the mucin is hydrating enough alone, but I need to seel everything in with a regular moisturizer and facial oil.

The Skin House Snail Mucin 5000 Ampoule ($9.99) was kindly gifted to me to review. I have been using it for a few weeks in the AM, and I have already noticed a difference in the condition of my skin. The ampoule is formulated with a high concentration of snail mucin and hydrolyzed collagen, so it is perfect for anti-aging.

Featured Ingredients:
  • Snail Mucin
  • Green Tea Extract
  • Aloe Vera
  • Hyaluronic Acid
  • Hydrolyzed Collagen
  • Adenosine
Full Ingredients List:

Suggested Use:

The Skin House suggests using a few layers of the ampoule after toner. The ampoule is thin enough to penetrate the skin deeply, and it won't feel heavy on the skin.

Physical Appearance:

The ampoule comes in a glass dropper bottle. The dropper picks up enough ampoule for one layer. The ampoule itself is quite thin and runny. It is not as slimy feeling as other snail mucin products I've used in the past, but it's slimy enough to be noticeable. The ampoule is a transparent pale yellow (even though my picture makes it look darker), and it smells like a sweet pear.

How I Use This Product:

I actually only use one layer of this ampoule after a sheet mask in the AM. I use so many layers of toner, essence, and serum that I only need one layer of the ampoule. I always follow up with moisturizer and facial oil after the ampoule to help seal in all the moisture.

My Experience:

After using this ampoule for a few weeks, I can already feel the intense hydration that it provides to my skin. It glides on so smoothly, and it doesn't make my skin feel sticky. I don't have any active acne, so I can't say that it will for sure clear up your skin. It is a great product to use long-term, and it will give your complexion a major boost!

Overall, I am very impressed with the Snail Mucin 5000 Ampoule. It is a great addition to any skincare routine, and it will work for all skin types.
