May 2022 Skincare Routine Update

 Hey Beauty Lovers!

Today I am going to share all the skincare products that I used last month.

As a blogger, I am sent a ton of skincare products to review. That means I get to have a 6-10 step skincare routine.

Please don't feel like you have to use as many products as I do, just use my skincare routines as inspiration for creating your own routine.

If you are confused about putting together a skincare routine, you can always leave me a comment at the end of this post. I am always happy to help!

In this post, I will:

  • Break down both AM and PM skincare routines
  • Show you the correct order of applying skincare
  • Explain why I use each product
  • Tell you how to use the products

This is a pretty long post, so let's get right to it...

Better Than Botox? Anti-Aging Skincare Routine featuring Dr. Zenovia Skincare

Hey Beauty Lovers!

Two months ago, I put together an acne clearing skincare routine featuring Dr. Zenovia Skincare products. In that post, I promised to give you a full anti-aging routine using products from the brand, and today I am fulfilling that promise!

Finding anti-aging skincare products that actually work can be a daunting task. You spend over $100 on products that have been recommended by your local Sephora salesperson, only to be disappointed when you try them out on your skin. Not only have you wasted a ton of money, but you are probably frustrated that your skin concerns haven't been addressed.

Don't feel bad, we've all been there!

I'm here to tell you that there are actually products out there that work to keep your skin looking youthful and vibrant! Don't get me wrong, anti-aging skincare products won't give you the same results as cosmetic surgery and botox, but there are products that can help you age gracefully and beautifully.

Dr. Zenovia is a board-certified dermatologist that specializes in skincare for every stage of life. All her products are formulated with her innovative REG-ulate360 Complex™. This fantastic technology helps address the underlying hormone imbalance in aging and acne-prone skin. Dr. Zenovia has helped countless women both in her clinic and through her medical-grade clinical skincare brand.

I'm not going to lie... Dr. Zenovia Skincare is a high-end skincare brand that comes along with a high-end price range. However, these products actually work and you will be able to see results within 1-2 months (this has been my experience, your mileage may vary depending on your age and skin concerns).

I put together a full skincare routine that will provide amazing anti-aging benefits using only Dr. Zenovia skincare products. I have personally used all the products mentioned in this post, and I stand behind them 100%! Try them out for yourself and then let me know how much you love them too in the comments section down below.

Ok, let's get into the routine...

Acne Clearing Skincare Routine featuring Dr. Zenovia Skincare

Hello Beauty Lovers!

As someone who has struggled with acne most of my life, I know how hard it is to find skincare products that actually work to clear and prevent breakouts.

I have tried everything from Proactive to dermatologists. Nothing over-the-counter worked and I didn't want to take prescription medicines.

Thankfully, times have changed. There are two skincare brands that actually work for acne-prone skin: Dr. Zenovia and Murad

Today, I will be going over my favorite Dr. Zenovia products that will help clear acne (including teenage, cystic, and hormonal acne). Murad products will be discussed in a future post.

If you are looking for a full routine to clear acne, keep reading!

February 2020 Skincare Routines

>>February Skincare Expectations<<

After starting a new at-home workout routine, my skin decided to break out like crazy!

This happens to me every time I work out, and it doesn't matter if I shower immediately following a workout, or if I remove all my makeup before sweating.

It's pretty frustrating, but I am sure that I'm not the only one with this experience.

Since my skin was a little out of control, I decided to use the Cosrx AC Collection set (on sale for $45 right now) that I was sent by StyleKorean.

Of course, I always need to use anti-aging products, so I used the Retinol Youth Renewal products that were sent to me by Murad.

Let's get right to my AM and PM routines...

>>February 2020 AM Skincare Routine<<

  1. Cleanser: In the AM, I only use one cleanser. I prefer a hydrating cleanser, but I sometimes use exfoliating cleansers. Since the rest of my skincare routine ended up being focused on exfoliation, I chose the Huangjisoo Pure Daily Foaming Cleanser in Moisturizing*. It smells amazing, and it really does keep my skin from getting too dried out.
  2. Exfoliation: After cleansing, I apply my exfoliating toners. These toners are not very strong, so I apply them with the palms of my hands. I first apply one layer of the Thank You Farmer True Water Light Toner* and then I apply one layer of the Cosrx AC Collection Calming Liquid Mild*. This combination really helps keep my skin texture under control.
  3. Vitamin C: I love to use Vitamin C in the AM. In February, my go-to Vitamin C product was the Wyldflower Labs Apricot-C Toner*. First of all, this toner smells a-mazing! Second, my skin was glowing so much from this toner that I skipped using sheet masks regularly all of February and March. Of course, I still used some sheet masks, but I wasn't using a sheet mask daily. I applied this toner with my hands, but you can use it on a cotton pad if needed.
  4. Hydrating Toner: If you are new to my blog, you may not know that I love to layer my hydrating toner. I apply 3-7 layers of toner AM and PM, depending on the hydration level of my skin at that moment. In February, I used the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner exclusively. I say that because I have been using two hydrating toners since February. I apply a small amount of toner with my hands for each layer.
  5. Serum: In February, I layered two different serums. I first applied the Cosrx AC Collection Blemish Spot Serm* to help with my acne. I then applied the Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Boost Serum* for hydration.
  6. Moisturizer: I typically use a lightweight moisturizer in the AM, and I have been loving the Cosrx AC Collection Lightweight Soothing Moisturizer*. This is a very lightweight moisturizer, but the hydration lasts all day!
  7. Sunscreen: I don't think I've tried a new sunscreen in a few years. I have been obsessed with the Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Sunscreen, and I just keep repurchasing this HG. Let me know if you have a HG sunscreen, I need to try something new this summer.

>>February 2020 PM Skincare Routine<<

  1. Double Cleanse: I always start my PM skincare routine with a double cleanse. I use the Manyo Factory Pure Cleansing Oil* followed by the Cosrx AC Collection Calming Foam Cleanser*. The oil cleanser helps break up sunscreen and makeup, and the foaming cleanser helps remove the cleansing oil. To use a cleansing oil, apply a few pumps to your hands, warm up the oil, and then massage the oil into your dry skin. To remove the oil, wet your hands and massage your skin until the oil turns milky. Then you can simply rinse away the oil with water, and continue with your second cleanser.
  2. Exfoliate: In the PM, I only use one exfoliating toner. That way I don't over-exfoliate when I use a mask. In February, I used the Cosrx AC Collection Calming Liquid Mild* for my exfoliating toner. Again, since it is a mild exfoliating toner, I applied this with my hands. It really did help with my texture when I used it twice a day.
  3. Hydrating Toner: In the PM, I used two hydrating toners. I used one layer of the Astis Elderberry Collagen Deep Hydrating Toner* and 3-7 layers of the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner. I absolutely love this combination of hydrating toners. The Elderberry toner smells like Elderberry tea, which I love!
  4. Eye Treatment: To keep the skin around my eyes looking youthful, I like to use an anti-aging eye treatment. In February I used the Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum*. I love that you can apply this eye serum on the eyelid as well as under the eyes.
  5. Sheet Mask: This is when I usually use a sheet mask. My favorite sheet mask from February was the JayJun Purple Fragrance Mask (discontinued). I will be posting my February sheet mask empties next, so check my Beauty Empties Series tab at the top of this page.
  6. Serum: I layered two serums in the PM. I first applied the Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Serum* followed by the A'ala Hawaii Vita-B Stem Cell Serum*. This was such an amazing anti-aging combination!
  7. Moisturizer: Instead of using a moisturizer and sleeping mask, I used two moisturizers in February. I first applied the Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Night Cream* and then I applied the Dewytree Hyaluron Melting-Chou Cream. The Murad Night Cream is not a great moisturizer in my opinion. It is marketed as a night cream, but it is way too lightweight for the PM. I highly recommend layering a thicker cream on top.

>>Final Thoughts<<

I am pretty happy with the condition of my skin after using this routine for a month. I did change my routine for March and April, but I didn't have to alter it too much.

If you have acne, I highly recommend the Cosrx AC Collection. The products are so gentle, but they really help exfoliate the skin properly and clear breakouts.

I stopped using the Murad serum and night cream after February. They just seemed so unnecessary. I still have them in my skincare cabinet, and I may use them again when the eye serum runs out.

The Perfect Skincare Routine After A Glycolic Acid Peel

Hey Beauty Lovers!

I'm so excited to be sharing with you my post glycolic acid peel skincare routine. I use these products for 24 hours after a peel, and I find that this routine is perfect for recovering skin. It is so important to stay away from actives and harsh ingredients after a peel. Stick  with a very simple routine, and focus on repairing the skin barrier. Not shown in the photo above is sunscreen. You always need to use a sunscreen during the daytime after a glycolic peel. You should be using sunscreen daily, but especially after a peel.

Routine-
  • Pacifica Beauty Coconut Dissolve Cleansing Oil Rehab- as you may know, I am obsessed with this oil cleanser. It smells so amazing, and it leaves my skin so soft! I love using this as a first cleanser after a glycolic peel. It is so gentle, and removes all the dirt and oil that accumulates over the day/night. I always follow up with a second cleanser, this just helps ensure that everything has been removed before moving on to the rest of my skincare routine.
  • Paris Hilton Skincare ProD.N.A. Dual-Action Cleansing Gel*- I love how gently this cleanser deep cleans my skin. It is a gel cleanser formulated with fruit enzymes that help thoroughly clean the skin. I got this for free a while ago, and I still love to use it when my skin is feeling extra sensitive. I don't like to use it alone, but it works great as a second cleanser!
  • Alteya Organics Organic Bulgarian White Rose Water*- I am obsessed with this rose water spray! Not only does it smell amazing, it also calms and softens my skin. I use it twice a day, every day. It is not irritating at all, so it is perfect to refresh the skin after a peel. I don't spray this directly onto my face, I spray it into my palms and gently pat the product onto my skin.
  • Manyo Factory Galactomyces Niacin Special Treatment Essence*- This is a new addition to my skincare collection, but I am already loving it! I love how niacin transforms my skin. I always try to include a product with niacin in my skincare routines. This one from Manyo Factory is brightening and pore refining. It is very gentle, so it can be used to help repair the skin after a peel. It is super affordable, and available on Amazon!
  • Elizavecca Hell Pore Control Hyaluronic Acid Serum*- After a peel, hyaluronic acid is going to be your best friend. To avoid getting dry skin, I like to use a hyaluronic acid serum before applying my other moisturizing products. Your skin will thank you if include this serum in your lineup!
  • Etude House Moistfull Collagen Eye Cream- I always apply my eye cream after my serums to help protect them from my heavier moisturizers. This also prevents the skin around my eyes from getting dehydrated when I sheet mask. This eye cream is insanely hydrating, and perfect for recovering skin.
  • Nourishing Sheet Mask- My favorite sheet masks to use after a glycolic peel are ones that nourishing/hydrating. The Elensilia Revitalizing mask and the Leegeehaam Master Deep and Quick Aqua Care mask are my go to sheet masks post-peel.
  • NeoStrata Dermal Replenishment*- It is so important to restore and protect the skin barrier after a chemical peel, and this moisturizer is fantastic for skin repair! It's a bit pricey, but so worth it. I cannot live without this product after a chemical peel. It really helps my skin bounce back to it's healthy state.
  • Radha Beauty Argan Oil- if you aren't using facial oils yet, you need to start ASAP! Argan oil is fanastic for all skin types, sinks into the skin quickly, and provides long lasting moisture. It is really one of my favorite oils! I like to apply a few drops to my skin after moisturizer to seal in all the hydration. It works really well under makeup and sunscreen, so I use it both AM and PM.
  • Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Tinted Face Mineral Lotion- If you are getting chemical peels, you MUST use a sunscreen in the AM. Your skin is now at risk for deep UV damage, so please make sure to wear at least SPF 50 after a peel. I highly recommend this tinted mineral sunscreen, it is one of my favorites!

I hope you enjoyed this skincare routine! Check out my past skincare routines by clicking the Skincare Routines Series tab at the top of this page or click here!
