It's already September, I'm sipping on my pumpkin spice latte, and I still haven't posted my June 2020 Skincare Routines Update! I am seriously behind schedule!
With the changing weather in June, and the switch from heating to air conditioning, my main skincare goal for the month was hydration. The air conditioner seriously dries out my skin, and I had to start using a sleep mask again to keep my skin hydrated through the night.
I also wanted to keep the lower half of my face as hydrated as possible because the face masks we all have to wear are legit sucking all the moisture out of my skin. My face really hates the quarantine right now.
I also had to start applying a lot more sunscreen every day. Due to the lockdown, I stopped wearing as much foundation, so I was losing the added sun protection that makeup normally provides. My HG sunscreen cannot be applied so heavily and it's really hard to apply it, so I switched things up and started using a new K-Beauty sunscreen.
I also really pushed myself to use a sheet mask every day to stay extremely hydrated.
Ok, let's get right to my routines...
If you have any questions or concerns, please leave them in the comments section. I would also love to hear from you if you have tried any of these products!

>>June 2020 AM Skincare Routine<<
Exfoliating Toner: In the summer, I like to avoid cleansing my skin in the AM. Instead, I like to exfoliate my skin with an AHA based toner like the InstaNatural 7% Glycolic Acid Toner*. I like to apply this toner with a cotton round. This toner is pretty similar to the Pixi Glow Tonic, but it is a little stronger. I am always very gentle with my skin when exfoliating, don't rub too hard or you will just end up with irritation.
Essence: I always like to follow up exfoliating or cleansing with a concentrated essence. I have been using the Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence for a few years already, and it's a product that I keep returning to when my skin needs some extra attention. This essence is formulated with fermented ingredients, and it is a great dupe for the infamous SKII First Treatment Essence.
Hydrating Toner: After treating my skin with essence, I always layer a hydrating toner on top. This is my second time purchasing the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner because it is amazing! They now make an even better version called the Hyaluronic Acid Toner Plus, but I haven't tried that one yet. Don't worry, it's on my wish list and I will try to review it soon!
Vitamin C Serum: I use a Vitamin C serum every AM to help brighten my skin and fight against free radical damage from the sun. I have some mixed feelings about the By Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 15% with Ferulic Acid*. I actually really enjoy the formulation of this serum, however, the packaging is terrible. The dropper bottle keeps opening on its own and caused the serum to oxidize prematurely! What a waste of half a bottle!
Anti-Aging Serum: Since I'm slightly obsessed with preventing my fine lines from getting any deeper, I like to layer a real anti-aging serum on top of my Vitamin C serum. The Collagenil Liftensive Perfect Serum* is so lightweight but it really helps firm the skin. I actually just finished the bottle, and I am starting to save up for a new one!
Moisturizer: I usually use a pretty lightweight moisturizer in the summer months, so I was really excited to get the Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream*. It has the most unique texture! It feels like a liquid, but it acts as a thick moisturizer. I cannot get over how amazing this cream is. I actually decided to stop using this cream and save it for the winter. I really want to test its hydrating abilities against the cold NY weather in January.
Sunscreen: If you have read any of my Skincare Routines posts in the past, you may already know that I am a huge fan of the Australian Gold Tinted Mineral Sunscreen. I was a little hesitant to try a new sunscreen, but the bottle for the Klairs Mid Day Blue UV Shield* was just the prettiest blue color and the sunscreen itself was blue too! Yes, I'm a sucker for cute and gimmicky products. Well, I tried the sunscreen and I am in love! It goes on so effortlessly, calms my skin, and doesn't get shiny throughout the say. The only issue I have with this sunscreen is that it can be a little too light for darker complexions.
>>June 2020 PM Skincare Routine<<
Oil Cleanser: If you aren't double cleansing yet, you need to learn about this amazing way to thoroughly cleanse your skin. You start with an oil cleanser, like my favorite Manyo Factory Pure Cleansing Oil*, which will break down all the makeup and sunscreen on your skin from the day.
Cream Cleanser: After cleansing the skin with an oil, you then follow up with a water-based cleanser. This second step removes all traces of the oil cleanser and will thoroughly clean the skin. I have been loving cream type cleansers like the Dewytree Hi Amino All Cleanser*. This cleanser is a little hard to wash off, but it makes my skin feel so soft. I think its worth the extra effort for the effects it has on my skin!
Essence: What else can I say? I love this essence! Check my AM routine for more details about the Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence.
Treatment Toner: Unlike the mornings, I like to use a very mild exfoliating toner in the PM to keep breakouts in check. The Cosrx AC Collection Calming Liquid Mild* is so powerful yet so gentle at the same time. If you suffer from breakouts or clogged pores, you need to add this toner to your routine. It never dries out my skin, but it completely clears up any congestion. It is even gentle enough to use down the neck!
Hydrating Toner: Again, I love the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner so much that I use it twice a day! Check out my AM routine for more details.
Sheet Mask: This is when I would normally apply a sheet mask. I like to use sheet masks daily, and you can check out the masks I used in June here.
Anti-Aging Serum 1: Yes, I used two anti-aging serums in June. I know it may sound a little extra, but I take my fine lines a little too seriously. As much as it is a privilege to age, I still want to age gracefully and slowly. I am not planning on getting any work done though. When I get some lines, they will be here to stay! Don't quote me on that, I am prone to changing my mind. Anyway, the InstaNatural Anti-Aging Collagen Serum* is absolutely fantastic. It is hydrating and formulated with collagen to help with fine lines.
Anti-Aging Serum 2: I also like to apply the Collagenil Bio-Longevity Serum* for a more potent treatment. I use less of this serum because it is pretty expensive, but it is so worth the money! This serum is a little thicker than a traditional serum, but it applies well after the InstaNatural serum. Just make sure your skin isn't completely dry before applying the Bio-Longevity Serum!
Moisturizer: I like to use a thicker moisturizer in the PM. The Rovectin Cica Care Balm* is a fantastic option. It is very thick and nourishing, so I would not recommend this moisturizer if you have acne-prone skin. Otherwise, this is great for healing, hydrating, and soothing the skin. I will be saving some of this cream to test in the winter months, so you will see an update soon!
Sleep Mask: No matter your skin type, everyone can benefit from a sleep mask. These are creams or gels that are applied on top of the rest of your skincare (except oils). They help seal in all of the great products you applied, and they are formulated to nourish and transform your skin overnight. I have been loving the Dearpacker Mas Cream* in the PM. It is so hydrating and I always wake up with a glowing complexion!
>>Final Thoughts<<
Overall, I was pretty happy with my June 2020 routines. My skin felt hydrated, I didn't break out, and I had a nice glow. That's really all I can ask for from my skincare!
I do think that my daily sheet mask routine helps a lot, but some people can't stand the feeling of a sheet mask on their skin. To be honest, it took me a few months to get used to sheet masking. I hated it at first and felt like it was a waste of time.
It really isn't a waste of time. Especially if you have aging skin! Sheet masks provide a level of hydration that you just won't get from any other product. You can get sheet masks as low as $1, so they won't blow your whole monthly skincare budget.
I know that individually packaged sheet masks are extremely wasteful, but I provide an alternative in my Sheet Mask Empties Post from June.
I really hope that you enjoyed taking a look at my June 2020 Skincare Routines. If you are looking for all my skincare routines updates, check out the Skincare Routines Series tab at the top of this page.
