>>I Ended My No-Buy<<
When I had my second baby at the end of August (2019), I decided to take an extended unpaid medical leave from work. Without the extra income, I had to cut back on spending, and of course, the first thing I cut was my monthly beauty budget.
I had a pretty nice stash of unopened skincare products and sheet masks, so I didn't think the no-buy would affect me so much. However, I didn't realize how much joy I got from shopping for new skincare products.
Yes, I did get quite a lot of new skincare to test out from companies, but I never got to choose which products were sent to me. Most items that were sent ended up sitting in a drawer for months. It's not that I didn't appreciate all the products I received, it just didn't bring me the same joy as picking out skincare that I would use daily.
Anyways, I am finally purchasing skincare products again, and it feels fantastic. I get to scroll through pages of sheet masks and choose the ones that I really want to try. I get to repurchase products that have worked wonders for my skin, and I get to try new products that I have been eyeing over the last few months.
I am happy to have my hobby back, and I can now review products that I really want to review.
So what did I buy last month?
I purchased a ton of sheet masks of course. My stash has been getting dangerously low, and I love to sheet mask daily. I also picked up some new eye patches so that I can return to daily eye masks. And finally, I picked up my two favorite essences/toners.
Let's take a look...
>>May 2020 K-Beauty Haul<<
- Skinfood Beauty In A Sheet Mask (x7)- I picked up 7 sheet masks from this line: Aloe, Lemon, Green Tea, Propolis & Bee Venom, Snail, Bird's Nest, and Caviar. I will be posting a review of all of these masks within the next two months, so sign up for my newsletter at the end of this post.
- TONYMOLY Pureness 100 Sheet Masks (x4)- I picked up 4 sheet masks from this line: Propolis, Snail, Green Tea, and Collagen. I will be purchasing two more sheet masks from this line and then I will write a full review of all the masks. Sign up for my monthly newsletter at the end of this post so you don't miss the review!
- Goodal Mild Sheet Mask in Tea Tree (pack of 10)- I have been interested in these sheet masks for a while, and I finally purchased the Tea Tree version. I purchased a pack of 10 masks because I love to use tea tree sheet masks at least once a week and my current stash is running very low.
- Berrisom Cocktail Recipe Sheet Masks (x2)- I picked up 2 masks from this line: Mojito and Kahlua Milk. I have already used these masks, and I will be posting my review of all four sheet masks in this line next week. Again, sign up for my newsletter!
- Dewytree Pick & Quick Moisture Full Mask (box of 30)- I forgot to include these in the photo! Since I sheet mask daily, I wanted to find a more eco-friendly alternative. I decided to pick up a box of these very basic sheet masks to use every other day. This will cut my sheet mask packet waste in half! I have been using these for a while already, and they are actually pretty great for daily maskers. Just remember that these are VERY basic masks!
- Petitfee Gold Hydrogel Eye Patches (30 pairs)- To keep my fine lines invisible, I like to use hydrogel eye patches under my sheet mask every evening. I really think that these make a huge difference, and I highly recommend adding these to your daily routine.
- Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner- This is actually a repurchase for me. I have been loving this toner so much and I was running dangerously low for the last few months. I finally picked up a new one, and I'm already using the new bottle! This is seriously a great hydrating toner.
- Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence- I think this is my third bottle of the Secret Key STE. My skin has been missing it so much these last few months, so I'm happy that I picked up a new one. If you want to read my full review, you can find it here.
>>Final Thoughts<<
I'm really excited to be able to restock on my favorite products and purchase new sheet masks to try.
Going on a no-buy was really hard for me, but I'm happy that I did one. It really taught me to stop relying on shopping for happiness, and I really just didn't have the money to spend so it put things into perspective.
If you are planning on going on a no-buy and you are nervous or you need some tips let me know! I may write a post about my experience and how I got through 7 months without retail therapy.
