Acne Clearing Skincare Routine featuring Dr. Zenovia Skincare

Hello Beauty Lovers!

As someone who has struggled with acne most of my life, I know how hard it is to find skincare products that actually work to clear and prevent breakouts.

I have tried everything from Proactive to dermatologists. Nothing over-the-counter worked and I didn't want to take prescription medicines.

Thankfully, times have changed. There are two skincare brands that actually work for acne-prone skin: Dr. Zenovia and Murad. 

Today, I will be going over my favorite Dr. Zenovia products that will help clear acne (including teenage, cystic, and hormonal acne). Murad products will be discussed in a future post.

Acne Clearing Routine

As I mentioned above, Dr. Zenovia products are great for acne-prone skin. Their products can be used for regular acne as well as hormonal acne.

The Clear Complexion line from Dr. Zenovia is designed to reduce both bacteria and inflammation, the two leading causes of acne. Additionally, these products help promote cell turnover and support skin barrier healing. The result is perfectly clear and healthy skin!

Here are the products in the line, they are listed in the order that they need to be applied...

Step 1: 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Cleanser ($30)

Formulated with:

• 10% Benzoyl Peroxide – anti-bacterial
• Aloe Vera – calms and soothes skin
• REG-ulate360 Complex™ – Vitamin E, Resveratrol, Green Tea, Backuchiol, and Genistein
• Bakuchiol – natural retinol alternative

I've had some horrible experiences with Benzoyl Peroxide (I'm looking at you Clearasil) including redness, peeling skin, and burning. This cleanser was so gentle! I didn't experience any of the Benzoyl Peroxide side effects that I mentioned. It helped clear up my skin without any irritation. If you only get one product from this post, you need to get the cleanser!

Step 2: 10% Glycolic Acne Control Peel Pads ($42)

Formulated with:

• 2% Salicylic Acid – unclogs pores, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory
• 10% Glycolic Acid – hydrating, exfoliating, and promotes collagen production
• REG-ulate360 Complex™ – Vitamin E, Resveratrol, Green Tea, Backuchiol, and Genistein
• Witch Hazel –  removes excess oil and refines pores
• Aloe Vera – calms and soothes skin
• Bakuchiol – natural retinol alternative
• Antioxidant Blend – including Green Tea Polyphenols, Caffeine, and Vitamin E

These pads are amazing for acne-prone skin. They are formulated with Salicylic Acid (BHA) and Glycolic Acid (AHA), my two favorite exfoliating acids. The pads will help resurface the skin, clean out the pores, promote collagen growth, and promote cellular turnover. They are great for acne and anti-aging! Although these are safe to use daily, I recommend using them 2-4 times a week until your skin builds up a tolerance for acids.

Step 3: Advanced Retinol Night Repair Treatment ($72)

Formulated with:

• All-Trans-Retinol – helps support collagen synthesis and cellular turnover
• REG-ulate360 Complex™ – Vitamin E, Resveratrol, Green Tea, Backuchiol, and Genistein
• Antioxidant Blend – including Green Tea Polyphenols, Caffeine, and Vitamin E
• Aloe Vera – calms and soothes skin

Although you don't need a treatment, this one will change your skin forever. Retinol is a fantastic ingredient for clearing acne, there is a good reason why dermatologists prescribe it for almost any acne-related condition. This retinol is a lot more gentle than the prescription one, and it won't cause any irritation. I highly recommend this as your nighttime treatment!

Step 4: Aloe Vera Blemish Soothing Moisturizer ($38)

Formulated with:

• Squalane – skin-smoothing and soothing
• Aloe Vera – calms and soothes skin
• Antioxidant Blend – including Green Tea Polyphenols, Caffeine, and Vitamin E
• REG-ulate360 Complex™ – Vitamin E, Resveratrol, Green Tea, Backuchiol, and Genistein
• Bakuchiol – natural retinol alternative

This moisturizer is a game-changer! I have never used a more soothing yet lightweight moisturizer in my time as a beauty blogger. It is amazing for all skin types, especially acne-prone skin, and it will completely heal the skin barrier. I cannot recommend this one enough!

Step 5: 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Spot Treatment ($25)

 Formulated with:

• 5% Benzoyl Peroxide – anti-bacterial
• Aloe Vera – calms and soothes skin
• REG-ulate360 Complex™ – Vitamin E, Resveratrol, Green Tea, Backuchiol, and Genistein

Ok, this is the best spot treatment on the market! I like to apply a drop of this to any blemishes after applying moisturizer. It helps get rid of any acne spot (big or small) within two days! It also prevents hyperpigmentation from forming, how amazing is that? Trust me, this spot treatment is going to be the best one you have ever tried.
