New Year's Eve 2022 Makeup & Tips

Hello Beauty Lovers!

It's already the end of 2021, and I am so happy to leave this year behind.

I am hoping that 2022 brings us all happiness and an end to the current state of the world.

New Year's Eve is one of my favorite times of the year. As a glitter lover, I enjoy using my sparkliest palettes and shiniest highlighter to get myself party-ready.

Here is a sneak-peek of what I am planning for my New Year's makeup...

New Year's Eve Makeup Look

Let's start with the products I used on my eyes:

  • Viseart Seamless Eye Primer- this is a fantastic eyeshadow primer. It helps create a smooth canvas for your eyeshadows, but creasing can be an issue if you have oily lids. For anyone with constantly creasing eyeshadow, I recommend the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion instead.
  • Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette (discontinued, you can use this alternative instead)- to create my eye look, I applied the shade Combust all over my lid, up to my brow bone. I then added the shade Whiskey to my lids and blended it up through my crease. I deepened the outer corners of my eyes with the shade Black Market. Finally, I applied the shade Smolder to my lower lash line.
  • Urban Decay Moondust Palette (discontinued, you can get the shade I used here)- using my fingers, I applied the shade Lithium to my lids, being careful not to touch the outer corners. The combination of Whiskey and Lithium is absolutely stunning!
  • ELF Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow in Purple Reign- to add a pop of color, I added the glitter eyeshadow to my lower lash line, right on top of the Smolder eyeshadow. I love the combination of purple and brown.
  • Physicians Formula Eye Booster Gel Eyeliner Trio in Satin Black- I lined my waterline with this thin eye pencil. It really does last all day and night.
  • Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Intense Black- to provide some drama, I added a thin wing using liquid liner. This one from Stila applies so beautifully and doesn't bleed at all. I always love to add a liquid liner to my lid whenever I use false lashes.
  • Lancome Lash Idole Mascara in Glossy Black- this is currently my favorite mascara. It lengthens and volumizes my lashes, you don't even have to wear false lashes if that's not really your thing!
  • Kiss My Lash But Better in Blessed- these lashes look so natural but make any makeup look really stand out. I love the thin band and the length of these lashes!

Let's move onto the face:
  • Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base- not only does this smell amazing, but it is also a fantastic moisturizer/primer hybrid. Whenever I know that I'm going to be wearing foundation for a long time, I like to prep my skin with this primer. It is extremely nourishing and it makes the skin feel amazing, even under very full coverage makeup. I highly recommend this!
  • Bobbi Brown Intensive Serum Foundation in Cool Sand- this is one of my favorite foundations at the moment. It is super lightweight and it honestly feels like a second skin. You only need 1 pump of this foundation for medium coverage, but it can be layered without getting cakey. This foundation will feel great all night long.
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light- if you want that Instagram filter look, I highly recommend Dim Light. It smooths out the skin, sets the makeup, and gives an airbrushed look in real life. What more can you ask for in a finishing powder?
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light- there is something about Hourglass powders that has me running back for more every time. I absolutely love this bronzer! It gives the skin a hint of color without looking like a bronzer. Does that even make any sense? You are just going to have to try this one for yourself to see its magic!
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Glisten- of course, I just had to choose my HG blush for my NYE look. The Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes last all day or night, they look fantastic, and they don't show any skin texture. The shade Glisten is a beautiful shimmery peach that can be worn all year round. The gold shimmer is so beautiful, I love wearing it when I have a party.
  • Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Prism Cream- to help keep my glow lasting all night, I love to layer liquid and powder highlighters. This one from Peter Thomas Rith has been discontinued, so I would recommend checking this one out instead. Tip: you only need the tiniest drop of liquid highlighter, so don't overdo it by applying too much. I only like to use the liquid highlighter on my cheekbones, but you can apply it wherever works best for your face.
  • Touch In Sol Glowdient Makeup Palette- a girl can never have too much highlighter! I like to apply the lightest shade from this palette to my cheekbones, browbone, and the inner corner of my eyes. I like matching the eyes to the face, it really brings the whole look together. The best part of this palette is that it can be used by more than one skin color, and the shades that won't work as a highlighter for your skin can be used for the eyes.
  • d'Alba Vital Serum Spray- between every layer of makeup, I like to spray a nice hydrating spray to my skin. This helps melt the products together, and it also helps keep your skin feeling hydrated all night long. Try it for yourself and let me know how it works for you!

And now my red lips:
  • Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella- I love using the Nars lip pencils instead of a lip liner and lipstick. These pencils dry down matte, are super pigmented, are very long-lasting, are very easy to apply and touch up, and are small enough to throw into the tiniest purse. I love to wear a bold lip, especially bright reds, whenever I am going out. There is something about a woman with red lips that really screams confidence. This red lip worked really well with my dramatic eye look!

Finally, the brows:

Here are 3 easy tips to help your makeup last all night:
  • The best makeup setter on the planet is the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. After you finish applying all your makeup, just spray a healthy dose of the All Nighter spray on your face (with your eye closed). You will be amazed by how long your makeup will last with this setting spray.
  • If you want the glitter to stay all night on your lids, you need to use glitter glue. The NYX Long Lasting Glitter Primer is one of my favorites to use with the Moondust shadows. Using glitter glue really helps the lids hold on to glitter shadows. I like to apply my regular eyeshadows first, then apply some glitter glue to my lids before pressing the glitter shadow on top.
  • To help keep mascara from smudging, I like to use an eyelash primer. My favorite one is the Diorshow Maximizer 3D Lash Primer. This primer really helps the lashes look fuller and makes sure that I don't end up with raccoon eyes by the end of the night.

I don't know about you, but I am really looking forward to celebrating the coming New Year with friends and family. We have had such a rough year, we all need some human contact at this point.

My family and friends all know how much I enjoy playing with makeup, so they will be expecting me to look amazing. I used to try to do my makeup like the YouTube and Instagram gurus, but it never looked so great in real life. I thought that I just sucked at doing makeup, but now I realize that they are applying way too much product to ever look good in person. All the studio lighting and blurring filters make the makeup look flawless.

In real life, I have texture and uneven coloring. I also have redness that I like to cover up. By applying my makeup in natural lighting, I always look amazing in person and on camera. Try to have fun and stop overloading your face with makeup like an influencer.

You may have noticed that I didn't use any concealer for this look. That's because I only believe in using concealer when absolutely necessary. I don't care what any guru on YouTube says, my opinion is that concealer always looks terrible in real life. I will sometimes use concealer to cover up a breakout, but that's the most that I will do. I never use concealer under my eyes!
