Mother Made Natural Skincare Review

>> Mother Made Skincare <<

If you haven't read my last post, I wrote a little about natural skincare. Just to recap briefly, the term "natural" in the beauty industry is completely unregulated. This means that a lot of "natural beauty" products are just marketing ploys to get you to buy products. If you are interested in buying skincare products formulated with natural ingredients, it is very important to research the brands and ingredient lists before making your purchases.

Mother Made is a fantastic natural skincare brand that actually sells products formulated with natural ingredients. Their products are so gentle, they feel so fresh, and they are safe to use on all skin types, even sensitive skin! The brand sent me two products last year, and I am still using them regularly. Since receiving this package, I was sent a box of their snail sheet masks. The sheet masks will be reviewed next month, so don't forget to sign up for my weekly newsletter!

Just so you know, Mother Made did give me a discount code that still works! If you use the code "miriam" at checkout, you will get 10% off your order. This is not an affiliate code, so I am not making any money off this discount.

>> Products Sent <<

Mother Made sent over the Exfoliating Aqua Peel Gel ($19) and the Active Charcoal Enzyme Powder Wash ($30). At the time, these were the two main products sold by the brand, so it was exciting to get them in the mail.

This may sound weird, but I really love the packaging. Everything from the color choices to the fonts is giving me a natural skincare vibe. Of course, I just had to smell the products as soon as I opened the boxes. The Peel Gel smells like green tea and the Enzyme Powder smells like a charcoal mask.

Since both products are exfoliators, I don't recommend using them together. The Aqua Peel Gel should be used 1-3 times a week to keep the skin smooth, and the Enzyme Powder Wash can be used 1-2 times a day, depending on your skin type. Just don't use the Enzyme Powder Wash before applying the Aqua Peel Gel.

I use both products pretty regularly, and I still have more than half left in each tube. The price isn't too steep, and the products will last you a few months. The question really is, do you need both exfoliators?

>> Active Charcoal Enzyme Powder Wash <<

This was the second enzyme powder cleanser that I tried, and it is still my favorite enzyme powder that I ever tried! The texture of this powder is a lot finer than a traditional enzyme powder wash, so it feels a lot more gentle on the skin. I also love that it includes activated charcoal to help clear out the skin.

If you have never seen an enzyme powder cleanser before, it may be a little confusing. The powder wash comes as a literal dry powder that needs to be mixed with water. You can control the texture of the cleanser by adjusting the amount of water you add. The less water that is added, the thicker the cleanser, and the more you can feel the physical exfoliation. If you add more water, you will still receive the exfoliating benefits from the enzymes.

Pro Tip: Adding only a drop of water, mix the powder into a thick paste and apply it as a mask.

Just a warning, once wet, this cleanser will make a mess in your sink! Get ready to wipe down your sink and forearms from all the black streaks!

I honestly really love this powder cleanser. I like to use this product as my second cleanser when my skin is feeling congested. After one use, my skin feels clear and clean, and it is gentle enough to use daily! I definitely recommend this cleanser!

>> Exfoliating Aqua Peel Gel <<

I was so excited to get a peeling gel!

This was the first peeling gel that I ever used, and I was pretty confused about how to use the product. It comes out of the tube as a pretty thick gel, and after rubbing into damp skin, the product starts to ball up. Instagram "influencers" were saying that the balled-up pieces were chunks of dead skin, and that sounded pretty gross. Thankfully, this is not really true. Yes, some dead skin may end up in the balls, but it is mainly the cellulose from the peel.

I love that this peeling gel includes green tea, papaya extract, and willow bark extract. I feel like this peel leaves my skin feeling smooth, refreshed, bright, and clear. It really is one of my favorite weekly treatments, and I don't know how I lived without this product in my life until now!

I don't usually use as much product as shown in the picture, but I wanted the texture to show up on the camera. You really only need a drop for your whole face. Also, my hand was not damp when I applied the peel, so I ended up with looser chunks. As you can see, the white chunks are not pieces of my skin peeling off. It is literally the cellulose from the product clumping together.

Honestly, I love this peel so much!

>> Final Thoughts <<

So, should you buy these products?

I really don't think that you need both the peeling gel and the enzyme powder wash. They both exfoliate and smooth out the skin really well. If you like the feeling of a physical exfoliator, I would recommend getting the peeling gel. Otherwise, just get the enzyme powder.

If you have the extra cash, and you really want to try out both products, go for it!
