Urban Decay Moondust Palette Review

Hey everyone! Today I'm very happy to be reviewing the Moondust palette by Urban Decay. When I heard that there was going to be a Moondust palette, I couldn't be more excited. I have several of the Moondust shadows, and I love every single one of them. I have to admit, I am obsessed with glitter everything, especially makeup. I purchased this palette from Sephora for $49 a while ago. It is slightly under the Naked palette price, but there are fewer shades. I don't like to write makeup reviews until I've had enough time to wear the products and decide how I feel about them. In this review, I will go over the packaging of the palette, how the shadows apply, and how long they wear. Let's get to it!

The cover for this palette is gorgeous. There is a galaxy theme on the front and back of the packaging, and the lettering is done in metallic. The back has a preview of all the colors included, and they all sparkle. If you aren't excited by this cover, then this palette might not be for you.

Opening the palette, I was a little disappointed to find a chunky, plastic case. The only things I liked about it was it was covered in glitter and it was easy to open. I hate cases that are so difficult to open without completely destroying your nails.

The beautiful shades included in this pallet make it worth the crappy packaging. The shadows have so much freaking glitter that they are almost blinding (in a good way)! There is also a shift to the colors that can be seen with all Moondust shadows. There are 8 shades in total, and each one is breathtaking. If you love glitter, this will be one of your favorite palettes. The shades are very pigmented, and they can be used wet to give them a foil look. They didn't crease when using a shadow primer (I like the Glitter Glue by Too Faced for this palette), and they blended very well. The only negative thing I have to say about these shadows is that there is a lot of fallout. I like to do my eyes before the rest of my face whenever using Moondust shadows so that I don't ruin the rest of my makeup with fallout.

Below I swatched each shade in the order they appear in the palette (don't mind my super pale arms):

Specter doesn't show up very well on my skin tone, but in reality this shade is very glitter and perfect for a daytime look. You can also layer it on top of a darker shadow from any other palette, and it will completely transform your look. Element is a little too red/orange for my taste, but I have used it on the lower lash line to give a basic eye look a pop of color. Magnetic is one of my favorite shades from this palette. I have used it on the lower lash line as well as on the whole lid. It is the perfect glitter purple. Lightyear I only use on the lower lash line, though it is a gorgeous green. It is just too exotic for my taste.

I use all of the shades on the bottom row along with the Urban Decay Smoky palette for most of my smokey eye looks. Granite is such a beautiful silver with a dark grey shift. I love to use this all over the lid. Lithium is one of the best brown shades for a smokey eye look. I have very light brown eyes, and the hint of gold glitter in this shadow really makes the yellow in my eyes pop. Vega is a stunning blue shade, but sadly I just don't wear blue eye looks very often. Galaxy is a black shade with green shift. Seriously the coolest looking shadow of the palette.

Overall, I really enjoy using the shades in the palette on a regular basis. They really transform any eye look, and they work well with other shadows. I typically use only one shade from this palette at a time to give some glitter to a look I created from one of my other Urban Decay palettes. If you enjoy glitter, I highly recommend playing around with these shades on your next Sephora visit.
