DIY Spa Day At Home

Hey Everyone! Sorry for not posting in a week! I have been dealing with some nasty pregnancy side effects, and I was just unable to write any blog posts. I'm excited about this post because I always need at least one at home spa day a week. These tips are for creating an at home spa day full of relaxation and beauty. Let's begin!

Scented Candle:

In my opinion, no spa day is complete without a scented candle. If you are not a fan of the scented variety, you can always use one that is unscented. I find that watching a flame really helps me relax, and the scents help melt any stress away. I always have a few Yankee Candles on hand to light day or night. I like to try a wide variety of scents, so I purchase votives and reserve my larger candle purchases for scents that I truly love. I will be writing a post on a recent Yankee Candle haul soon.

Face Mask:

For an at home spa day, I like to apply a face mask that can be left on for at least an hour. I try to stay away from any clay based masks, or any masks that will dry out the skin if left on too long. My favorite cream masks to use are from Peter Thomas Roth. I generally enjoy all his masks, but I like to purchase the sets so that I can apply a mask based on my skin concern at the moment. I've never really got into the multi-masking trend, but buying the PTR mask sets are great for doing just that! I have already written a full review for the masks shown above, so check it out if you are interested!

If you want a great mask that you don't need to wash off and can leave on for an hour, this mask from Dr. Jart is absolutely amazing. It comes in two pieces, and I find that it fits my face perfectly. I really love the firming effect it has on my face, and it is very relaxing. Dr. Jart makes some other great masks for all your skincare needs, so check out the brand if you haven't already. A full review for this mask will be coming shortly.

Foot Mask:

For me, the ultimate at home spa experience has been the edition of a foot mask. I personally like to use the Sephora brand foot masks, but Karuna makes a great one too. These masks go on like socks and feel amazing on the skin. After you take off the mask, you simply rub in the remaining serum. Your feet are left soft and refreshed, one of the best products to use after a long day or any time really. I like to put on sicks over the mask to help keep the mask tight against my feet and also so that I can walk around if necessary while they are on (they are very slippery!). If you haven't trued a foot mask out yet, I suggest starting with the Sephora brand ones because they are only $5.

Hand Lotion:

I love giving applying scented hand lotion while relaxing. It is the perfect time since you aren't going to be using your hands a lot and the lotion can really penetrate. I have many hand lotions all over my house and I usually choose a scent that complements my lit candle for extra relaxation.

Hot Tea:

For me, hot tea is a must when I'm trying to relax. If it is the morning, a cup of coffee maybe your thing, but I enjoy tea all day. The Tahitian Vanilla Hazelnut from Yogi is one of my favorites. I can drink 4 cups of this tea a day, and I always keep at least 4 boxes in stock. There are also many relaxation and bedtime teas from the company, so check it out.

Book/Movie/TV Show:

Finally, to help relax while all my masks sink in, I like to read a book. If you don't enjoy reading, you can always watch some Netflix or a movie. Anything that gets you in the relaxation mode. An alternative would be to listen to some meditative music (youtube has many options) and close your eyes. I usually have many books ready to read on my Kindle, so I'm never without a great read.

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you have any questions or other suggestions, please leave them in the comments below.
