Kosas Cosmetics Review

>> Kosas Cosmetics <<

Kosas Cosmetics is a clean beauty makeup brand sold at Sephora. I first discovered this brand through Instagram, and I am so happy to see the brand growing!

Clean Beauty at Sephora means that the products are formulated without Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates, and over 50 "harmful" ingredients. I'm not completely sold on the Clean Beauty movement, but I do think it is useful for anyone with allergies to the omitted ingredients.

I do love that Kosas is a Vegan and Cruelty-Free brand. While I don't exclusively purchase Vegan and Cruelty-Free products, I do try my best to support those brands.

When I think of Kosas makeup, the first word that comes to mind is "effortless". I do think that all of their products provide a natural no-makeup look, and the formulas feel so comfortable on the skin. You can apply a full face of Kosas products in under 10 minutes, which is absolutely amazing.

Kosas was kind enough to send me a huge box of makeup*, and I actually found two Holy Grail (HG) products that I will forever purchase.

Of course, I took a ton of beautiful photos of each product. I swatched everything, took close-ups, and edited everything. I then gave most of the products to my mom since she needed some new makeup, and I only kept my two favorite products from the collection. I put off writing this review for too long, and now I lost all of the beautiful photos I took months ago!

Since I don't own the majority of the products anymore, I took some new photos of my HG products and screenshotted some photos from my Instagram page. I will take some new photos of the products that I gave to my mom ASAP, and I will update this review with the full collection that Kosas sent over!

Hopefully, I learn my lesson and write my reviews as soon as I take photos!

>> Products Sent <<

Kosas sent me the following products:
  • Tinted Face Oil Foundation (shade 04)
  • Tinted Face Oil Foundation (shade 05)- gave to my mom
  • Color & Light: Pressed Powder Blush & Highlighter Duo (Longitude Zero)- gave to my mom
  • Color & Light: Creme Cream Blush & Highlighter Duo (Tropic Equinox)
  • Weightless Color Lipstick (Thrillest)- gave to my mom
  • Weightless Color Lipstick (Rosewater)- gave to my mom
  • 10-Second Liquid Eyeshadow (Fahrenheit)- gave to my mom
  • 10-Second Liquid Eyeshadow (Element)- gave to my mom
As you can see, I gave most of the products to my mom. I kept the shade of Tinted Face Oil Foundation that matched my skin tone and I kept the cream blush & highlighter duo. I thought that those products stood out the most for me, and I am still in love with both of them today.

Before giving my mom the products, I did a swatch and test everything.

The lipsticks were pretty average, but I did like the colors. The formula was creamy and it felt very comfortable on the lips. I don't normally wear bullet lipsticks, so I decided to give them to my mom. She has been loving them, so I'm happy with that decision.

The 10-Second Eyeshadows were actually pretty interesting. If you don't like to use more than two colors on your lids, this eyeshadow is for you. It comes out of the tube as a sheer liquid and you only have 10 seconds before it dries down. That means you need to blend it VERY quickly. While you can build the color up, it was a little too much work to get it to my ideal intensity. My mom loves a simple was of color on her lids, so she has been loving these!

The powder blush & highlighter duo was a little too pink for my skin tone. I don't know why, but pale pink does not look good on my face. Since I knew that I wouldn't wear the blush, I gave the duo to my mom. Her skin is a little darker than mine, and she looks great in all shades of pink. The powders themselves felt very soft, and the highlighter was not blinding. If you are looking for a blush & highlighter duo that is business appropriate, I would highly recommend checking this one out!

Finally, I only kept the Tinted Oil Foundation that matched my skin tone. I gave my mother the other shade, and she has been using it non-stop! She wears this foundation almost every day and she is almost out of product already! She loves it so much that she is probably going to purchase a new tube when she runs out! It's that good!

I will update this post with some new photos in the next month. If you sign up for my weekly newsletter, you will get a notification when the new photos are added. It's also a really awesome newsletter!

Until then, here is a really blurry screenshot of my Instagram post...

>> HG Products <<

Ok, now it's time for the two products that I kept for myself.

I am calling these my HG products because these are absolutely amazing! I don't know how I ever lived without these!

The Tinted Oil Foundation is my best discovery of 2019. Of all the products I tested and reviewed in 2019, this was the best. And, now that I only use cream face products, the blush (aka bronzer on my skin tone) & highlighter duo has been an everyday staple the last few months. I now feel bad that I didn't let my mother have the cream duo, she would really love these. Maybe I'll get her one for her birthday in April (I hope she's not reading this).

As you can tell by the dirty packaging, I have been showing these two products a lot of love! You only need a little of each, so these two will last many months with daily use.

The cream duo is supposed to be a blush and highlighter. I have pretty light skin, so I have been using the blush as bronzer. It actually blends out beautifully with just fingers, and it doesn't leave that horrible contour streak across my face.

The highlighter is pretty subtle, but it looks amazing on the skin. It melts right into my cheekbones, and it gives me a natural-looking glow. This shade is a little more golden than I normally use, but I think I pull it off well.

The Tinted Oil Foundation is truly something special. I think this is the fourth time I said that already, but I am 100% serious right now. It comes out of the tube as a legit oil. I mean it will literally run down your hands and all over the floor if you are not careful. It is formulated with Jojoba Seed Oil, Avacado Oil, and Red Raspberry Seed Oil to help nourish your skin. It doesn't feel like a traditional foundation either. This Oil Foundation is so lightweight that I actually forget that I'm wearing anything on my face!

Once blended, you will not see the foundation at all! This is not a full coverage foundation, so don't expect it to cover any blemishes or redness. This oil is made to even out skin tone, and give the face a healthy-looking glow. It is basically like a tinted moisturizer but in oil form.

After the oil dries down, the product won't really move around. However, I like to lightly dust my face with some setting powder just to be sure. I really don't think it needs to be set with powder, but it just makes me feel more confident that I won't have streaks of makeup running down my face in the afternoon.

I didn't experience any breakouts while using these products, but I do make sure to double cleanse my skin every evening. I wouldn't recommend sleeping in the Tinted Oil Foundation!

>> Proof of My Love <<

I'm pretty sure Instagram photos count as proof these days...

First, we have the Cream Blush & Highlighter Duo showing up in my October 2019 Beauty Favorites post:

Next, we have the Tinted Oil Foundation in my November 2019 Beauty Favorites post:

Finally, we have both products in one of my October 2019 Weekly Makeup Picks posts:

If you're not convinced of my love, check out my Weekly Makeup Picks: Shop My Stash posts under the Makeup Series tab at the top of this page. I use these products a ton!

>> Final Thoughts <<

Overall, I am pretty impressed with Kosas products. They offer natural, effortless makeup for a pretty reasonable price. All the products I've tried are made with high-quality ingredients, and they have shades that will work with most skin tones.

If you are interested in purchasing any of these products, I highly recommend swatching the colors at your local Sephora before ordering anything online. The shades look a little different swatched than they do in the package.

Of course, you don't NEED any of these products, but they are pretty amazing. If you are looking for some simple everyday makeup that will take only a few minutes to apply, this is the brand for you. If you love full glam makeup looks, I don't recommend this brand at all.
