April 2022 Beauty Favorites + Mini Reviews

Hey Beauty Lovers!

I love seeing monthly beauty favorites on Instagram and YouTube, so I started a Beauty Favorites Series here on my blog.

Every month, I choose 5 products that I loved in both the Skincare and Makeup categories. These products may show up in multiple monthly favorites posts, so don't be surprised if you have seen any of these favorites in the past.

If you are interested in seeing the products that made it into my April Beauty Favorites, this is the post for you!

April Skincare Favorites

  • Pure Culture Beauty Custom Serum ($29)- Custom skincare is trending right now, but a lot of the brands you see on Instagram carry Sephora price tags. I am always happy when I find skincare products at a more affordable price range that actually work! The Pure Culture Beauty Custom Serum is only $29 and you get a serum that is designed specifically for your skin type. The kit includes an online questionnaire and an at-home skin test. Simply fill out the form honestly, and your custom serum will be created very quickly. I finished my entire bottle and I can honestly say that I loved how it made my skin look and feel! Expect to see this one in my upcoming empties post.
  • Face Gym Electro-Lite Gel Cleanser ($38)- I don't normally spend so much on a face cleanser, but this one was gifted to me. Let's just say that I love it so much that I may have to repurchase it when it's emptied. This cleanser gently exfoliates the skin (you don't feel it at all), provides a boost of electrolytes, and has reduced my skin's oil production. I have only been using this cleanser in the AM for a few months, but I can already see a difference in my skin! I feel less oily, smoother, more hydrated, and my skin is glowing. If you can afford the high price tag, I highly recommend this one!
  • Glow Recipe Banana Souffle Moisture Cream ($39)- So far, I have loved every single Glow Recipe product that I've tried. They all provide an amazing glow to the skin that just can't be created by using other brands. I love that they have fruit-scented products, their watermelon line is my absolute favorite! I have been using the Banana Souffle Moisture Cream for the last few months, and I have to say that it is divine. It is super lightweight (great for the summer months), smells amazing, and gives my skin that signature Glow Recipe glow! I am about halfway through the jar right now, so expect to see this one show up in an empties soon.
  • Dr. Zenovia Skincare 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Spot Treatment ($25)- I'm pretty sure that Dr. Zenovia products show up in almost all of my skincare favorites posts on Instagram. Maybe I'm a little obsessed with their products, but they are truly amazing! I have been having some stress breakouts since mid-April, so I have been reaching for this spot treatment a lot lately. I love how quickly my spots disappear when I use this treatment, and I never get any post-acne hyperpigmentation if I use it consistently during a breakout. I honestly cannot be without this spot treatment, it is one of a kind!
  • Carter + Jane Postpick ($28)- This is actually something I just added to my breakout routine. I have a very bad habit of picking at my acne. I try to keep patches on them, but sometimes they pop up when I am out of the house. This spray from Carter + Jane is meant to be applied to acne spots after they are picked. It is formulated with natural ingredients (floral hydrosols and fermented ingredients), and it helps prevent hyperpigmentation and scaring after picking. I have been absolutely blown away by how quickly my picked spots have been healing! If you have the habit of picking at your acne, you need this in your life ASAP!

April Makeup Favorites

  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Glisten ($29)- No matter how many blushes I have in my makeup collection, I am constantly reaching for this blush every Spring. There is something about the Tarte formula and this beautiful peach, shimmer shade that puts me in a Spring mood. The Tarte blushes blend out beautifully and last all day on the cheeks. They have quite a few colors available, so definitely check them out! The Tarte blushes just aren't talked about enough anymore. The formula is unbeatable in my opinion.
  • Bobbi Brown Intensive Serum Foundation ($72)- Don't you hate falling in love with expensive foundations? This one from Bobbi Brown is so beautiful but the price tag is killing me! The Intensive Serum Foundation is very full-coverage, but it feels very thick when applied on its own. Instead, I like to mix one pump of the foundation with a moisturizer and apply it that way. I only need one layer to cover up any imperfections, so the bottle will last a very long time. It's still crazy expensive though, so I only recommend getting it if you are looking for a foundation with a flawless finish.
  • Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base ($64)- I have loved the Vitamin Enriched Face Base since I first tried it 7 years ago. It makes my skin feel so hydrated all day under makeup, and it helps all my foundations apply effortlessly. For the last few months, I have actually been mixing the Bobbi Brown Intensive Serum Foundation with the Face Base. The combination is perfection! You can try mixing other foundations into the Face Base or use it as a primer under the foundation. If you have mature or dry skin, the Face Base is a must!
  • Milk Makeup Rise Mascara ($28)- I am actually pretty picky when it comes to mascaras. My lashes need a formula that will lift and lengthen them without any clumping. I also hate when a mascara flakes all over my face and when it transfers to my undereye area. I have thrown out so many mascaras so I am always excited when one performs perfectly for me! This one from Milk Makeup provides everything I need and want from a mascara! I am obsessed! This is a fairly new launch from Milk Makeup, so it should be well-stocked everywhere.
  • Colourpop That's Taupe Palette ($14)- Let me start by saying that I love a neutral eye palette. If you enjoy color, this is not going to be the palette for you. As the name implies, this palette is taupe-themed. It is perfect for anyone that loves neutral palettes or that needs to wear more neutral colors for work. It is a very affordable 9-pan palette and the formula is fantastic. I actually prefer the Colourpop 9-pan palettes to the Huda Beauty ones. You can't really go wrong with a $14 palette, so give it a try! Btw, Colourpop always has palettes on sale, so check out their website here.
