Hey Beauty Lovers!
As part of my Daily Sheet Mask Challenge this month, I pulled out all of my random sheet masks in my collection, and I found this Red Wine Sheet Mask that I got from Ulta. I have been holding onto my TONYMOLY sheet mask for a few months, but I have been hesitant to actually try it! I have heard so many bad things about TONYMOLY in general, and I was so worried that this mask would break me out. But here I am, wine sheet mask in one hand, glass of actual wine in the other. Here we go!
Claims:
- Reduces the appearance of pores
- Tightens the skin
- Keeps skin clear
Ingredients (from Ulta):
Purified water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Panthenol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum, Phenyl Trimethicone, Red Wine Extract, Carbomer, 1,2-Hexanediol, Propanediol, Tromethamine, Camellia Japonica Flower Extract, Chrysanthellum Indicum Extract, Green Tea Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Aspalathus Linearis Leaf Extract, Thymus Vulgaris Flower/Leaf Extract, Jasmine Flower Juice, Dipotassium Glycyrrizate, Caprylyl-Glycol, Illicium Verum Fruit Extract, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, Perfume.
Directions (from Ulta):
After cleansing face, pat face dry and apply the mask to the skin. Remove mask gently after 20-30 minutes and massage remaining product into the skin.
Complaints from others:
- Caused breakouts
- Sheet mask didn't fit their face
- Sheet mask slid off their face
- No noticeable results
- Flimsy material
- Too much essence
- Strong wine scent
I applied the mask after toning, and left it on for 40 min. This is the standard amount of time I usually leave on my sheet masks. The mask fit my face well enough, but it could have fit better. Remember that these masks are designed for a very specific face in mind, and it is okay to use the mask without the holes lining up perfectly. The idea that a sheet mask will fit every face out there is a little absurd. If you really need a sheet mask that fits, I would recommend trying a two piece sheet mask, but expect to pay more for the convenience.
The sheet mask stayed on my face the entire 40 min. I'm not sure why it slid off other people's faces, maybe they didn't prep their skin properly before applying the mask. I highly recommend applying the mask after toning, and never rinse off the remaining essence after removing the mask, unless the product burns your skin of course.
I did notice a wine scent, but it wasn't strong at all. I actually wish it was stronger, but that's not really the point of a sheet mask. The mask was soaked in essence, and it did feel a little flimsy. The sheet is made of 3 layers of pulp which is not the best. It did soak up the essence well, and it felt refreshing on the skin. I didn't notice any immediate effects, but I did wake up with clear skin and tiny pores!
I would say that I really enjoyed this mask. It might not be for everyone, but I highly recommend trying it if you have oily, normal, or combination skin. It might not be the best for dry or sensitive skin, but you can try it if you feel adventurous. Remember, please remove the mask if your skin starts to burn or feel very uncomfortable. Skincare is not supposed to hurt unless you are using a strong chemical exfoliant!
