March 2019 Beauty Favorites

Hey Beauty Lovers!

I have been loving so many skincare products lately. There are so many fantastic products on the market these days, each one formulated to target a wide range of skin concerns. When I was younger, I used to suffer from acne. As I've aged, my skin added dry patches to the mix.

All my life I have been jumping from one brand to another, each claiming to cure my acne with their magical 3-step system. Little did I know, by using these harsh chemicals on my skin for years, I ended up destroying my skin's natural barrier. This exacerbated my acne and caused my skin to become dehydrated as well.

A few years ago, I started my beauty blog. At first, it was all about makeup reviews and tutorials. I spent thousands of dollars at Sephora each year, trying to find the perfect products to mask my terrible skin conditions. Every attempt was a failure.

Once I figured out that makeup would not make my skin look better, I turned to skincare. At first, I was purchasing very expensive products from Sephora, and draining my monthly beauty budget in the process. My skin started to heal from the acne with my newfound love for skincare, but the dry patches stubbornly remained.

It wasn't until I discovered K-Beauty blogs that I realized the problem with my dry skin was an effectively destroyed skin barrier. That is when I started to dive into the K-Beauty world. I found so many affordable products that were designed to repair and strengthen the skin barrier. I learned that I needed to hydrate in lighter layers rather than just slather on the richest moisturizer I can find.

My skin has never looked or felt better. No one believes me when I tell them that I'm 30 years old. I have some fine lines around my eyes, but that is the worst sign of aging so far. I am so proud of my skincare journey. Many people think I'm crazy for using so many products on my skin every day, but I know that it's worth it.

Now that I have this huge introduction, you can see why my beauty favorites each month have been about skincare products!

Let's finally get to me March Beauty Favorites:
  • JayJun Cosmetic Soothing Facial Moisture Emulsion- In March, I was using this emulsion at night followed by a regular moisturizer, sleeping pack, and oil. It provided an additional boost of hydration for the dry, cold weather we were having in NYC. These days, I still use the emulsion at night, but I don't need an additional moisturizer on top. It provides enough moisture for my skin without the heavy feeling of a night cream. I am so in love with this product, and I will be repurchasing it when I run out. If your skin is too oily to use a regular moisturizer or your skin is too dry to only use a moisturizer, I highly recommend looking into emulsions.
  • JayJun Cosmetic Roselle Tea Eye Patches- If you have been reading my blog for a while, you will know that I love to use eye patches in the PM. These eye patches from JayJun have been a fantastic find! They are the perfect shape, cool the skin under my eyes, and help keep my eyes wrinkle-free! They have a lot of essence/serum, but they don't slide around as much as some other eye patches that I've tried in the past. I already finished this pack, but I have another waiting in my skincare stash. I highly recommend these!
  • Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop Serum- I have always been obsessed with using a Vitamin C serum. It is an amazing way to keep skin looking radiant and help boost collagen production. Vitamin C also has the added bonus of scavenging for free radicals and protecting the skin from sun damage. I have used serums with high concentrations of Vitamin C in the past, so my skin already has an amazing glow. On top of that, I use many other brightening products daily. I don't feel like I need a high concentration of Vitamin C anymore. I like to use the Klairs serum since it is formulated with 5% Vitamin C and Centella Asiatica. It will help brighten your skin on its own, but it will take a lot longer to see results than a more potent Vitamin C serum. It's a great maintenance serum once you already have glowing skin, and it is also great for sensitive skin. I highly recommend checking this serum out!
  • Formula 10.0.6 Pores Be Pure Skin Clarifying Mud Mask- I am actually including a non-Korean skincare product this time! I am obsessed with mud masks. I use them multiple times a week, and it helps keep my large pores clear. They can be a little drying, but I always use a hydrating or soothing sheet mask after a mud mask. I never experienced irritation from using mud masks often, but if you have dry skin, please be careful. This mud mask from Formula 10.0.6 is one of the best clarifying masks I've used. It is super affordable, and it lasts a really long time. I have other mud mask favorites, but I was using this one the most during March. I highly recommend checking out the whole Formula 10.0.5 mask collection!
That brings us to the end of my March Beauty Favorites. Just a note, I purchased all of these products with my own money. There are no gifted items in my beauty favorites for March.
