June 2019 Beauty Favorites

Hey Beauty Lovers!

Anyone else getting bored with Instagram? Every time I look at my feed, I see a ton of paid sponsorships disguised as PR...

Let's be clear, there is a difference between PR and paid sponsorships. It's totally fine to be paid for your work, but it is important to disclose any conflicts of interest.

If I see a post for a cleanser, and the "influencer" gives it a rave review, I would like to know if that was paid product placement. It's obvious when I see an ad on TV, but it's less obvious when I see one in my Instagram feed!

The FTC has some pretty well-defined guidelines for sponsored content on social media, but it's sadly not enforced for smaller "influencers".

Okay, rant over!

I was only thinking about this today because three of my four June Favorites were sent to me in PR! As I gain followers and blog visitors, brands have been sending me their products with the hope that I will talk about them on my blogging platforms.

I always disclose when things are sent in PR, but I always worry that my followers will assume I got paid to talk highly of gifted products! That is honestly never the case! Only one "influencer" platform I use requires the brands to pay the "influencers," and I rarely apply to any of those campaigns.

I only accept payment for reviews that I know will be positive (based on using the products previously and loving them), and I always disclose that I was paid for the post. If I only state that it was PR/gifted, I did not receive any payment!

Additionally, I do not lie in my reviews. If a product didn't work for me, I may only introduce the brand on my Instagram (stating that it was received in PR of course), and never talk about the product again. This means that the product won't receive a blog post and it won't get mentioned in my routines, favorites, empties, or review posts. Everything I recommend, I stand behind 100%.

I really hope that's transparent enough. Let me know if you think that my way of reviewing PR is sketchy. I am always trying to improve myself and my content!

Okay, let's get into the actual post!

Disclaimer: I use affiliate links in my blog posts. By using one of my affiliate links, I receive a few dollars. This helps support the blog since I do not accept money for product reviews. I never use affiliate links for products that I don't actually recommend. If you feel uncomfortable using affiliate links, please don't feel obligated to click on anything in this blog. You will also see that quite a few products have been sent to me for free. As a beauty blogger, I receive many products each month. I test out each product before giving an honest review. I am not required to include them in any posts, so if you see them show up, I actually like the products.

June 2019 Favorites:
  • Fleur & Bee Nectar of the C*- I always love finding affordable Vitamin C serums! I used to use very expensive serums from Sephora (I'm looking at you Ole Henriksen), and then I realized there are fantastic cheaper alternatives. The only way to really find the effective Vitamin C serums is to read blog reviews! Nectar of the C is a fantastic serum that can be enjoyed by sensitive skin. It is super gentle, so I am guessing there is a pretty low concentration of Vitamin C. That may sound like a bad thing, but it is actually better for long term use. Just keep in mind that you will have to use the whole bottle before you start to see results in pigmentation fading. It will brighten your skin right away though!
  • iUNIK Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil*- If you have been reading my skincare routines posts, or if you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I use an oil cleanser every day!  Double cleansing is a must in the PM to help remove sunscreen, but I sometimes double cleanse in the AM because it makes my skin so smooth! The Calendula Cleansing Oil is a typical k-beauty cleansing oil, so it doesn't leave a greasy residue when it is washed off. Calendula Oil is great for all skin types, so this one has become a favorite of mine.
  • COXIR Black Snail Collagen Eye Cream- I actually finished this eye cream already, but it was my favorite in June! If you want to know what snail mucin feels like, this eye cream will satisfy your curiosity. It is the slimiest snail product I have ever used, but I love the texture! I think the texture is what made me choose this product for my favorites! As an eye cream, it is pretty average. I still recommend it though!
  • Meebak Cica Serum*- If you are looking for a serum to help with problem skin, this serum is for you! Formulated with Centella Asiatica, this serum helps soothe and deeply hydrate the skin without feeling too heavy. That makes it perfect for all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone skin. The packaging is super minimalistic and sleek, and the glass pump bottle keeps the serum fresh. The serum is on the thicker side, so keep that in mind when you incorporate it into your routine. Use the code MIRIAMBENDAYAN for 25% off your purchase!
And that brings us to the end of my June favorites! I hope that you enjoyed this post! If you want to read all of my favorites posts, check out the Beauty Favorites Series tab at the top of this page.
