Kina Cosmetics Function Sheet Masks Review

>>My Sheet Mask Addiciton<<

It's no secret that I love Korean skincare, especially sheet masks. A quick look through my Skincare Routines Series tab will show you how often I choose K-Beauty products over any other Western brand.

There is a  reason for this K-Beauty skincare preference. Skincare brands in South Korea face such heavy competition that they continuously have to put out new and innovative products. This results in a huge selection of superior skincare collections.

One of the best skincare trends that came out of South Korea is the sheet mask. Although they come in individual packets (super wasteful), they are one of the best ways to drastically transform your skin in just a few weeks.

I have tried a ton of sheet masks over the last few years, just check out my Empties Series tab at the top of this page for the growing list of my sheet mask empties posts. When I order sheet masks, I try to get entire mask lines so that I can review more than one mask at a time.

One sheet mask line I decided to purchase was the Kina Cosmetics Function line. I was able to pick up all four of the masks in the line, and I already love the Kina Cosmetics packaging.

>>Function Sheet Mask Line<<

The four masks in the Function Sheet Mask Line are:
  • Function Ceramide Face Mask
  • Function Hyaluronic Acid Face Mask
  • Function Marine Complex Face Mask
  • Function Peptide Face Mask
Let's get to the reviews...

Company Claims:
"A function driven facial sheet mask that is uniquely formulated to deliver targeted benefits to address specific skincare concerns. Powered by two complexes crafted with 17 botanical extracts, and a boost of Ceramide. Ceramides replenish moisture to dry skin, and work to naturally fortify the skin’s protective barrier – locking in and retaining hydration."

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Cnidium Officinale Root Extract, Phellinus Linteus Extract, Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract, Angelica Keiskei Leaf/Stem Extract, Artemisia Vulgaris Extract, Glycine Max (Soybean) Seed Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Salvia Miltiorrhiza Flower/Leaf/Root Extract, Schizandra, Chinensis Fruit Extract, Butylene Glycol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Polyquaternium-51, Ceramide NP, Carbomer, Arginine, Olive Oil PEG-7 Esters, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Allantoin

My Experience:

First of all, I love Ceramides in my skincare. My skin barrier was in very bad shape before I discovered K-Beauty, so I try to use as many Ceramide-based products as I can. Unfortunately, Ceramides (Ceramide NP) is listed at the end of this ingredients list. That means that there is a very low amount of Ceramides in this sheet mask. It is possible that Ceramide NP needs to be kept at a very low concentration, but I honestly don't know if that is the case.

Fortunately, I still really enjoyed this mask. There are so many amazing ingredients included in the list, and the mask left my skin feeling nourished and hydrated. What else can we really expect from a sheet mask?

The sheet fit my super long face really well, and the mask stuck to my skin the entire time it was left on my face. The serum didn't leave a sticky residue on my skin, and the rest of my skincare layered well after the mask was removed.

You can purchase this mask here, but I recommend trying one of the other masks instead.

Company Claims:
"A function driven facial sheet mask that is uniquely formulated to deliver targeted benefits to address specific skincare concerns. Powered by two complexes crafted with 17 botanical extracts, and a boost of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic Acid is naturally occurring humectant in the human body that works to nourish and hydrate skin’s collagen – for skin that is softer, smoother, and radiant."

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Polyquaternium-51, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Carbomer, Arginine, Butylene Glycol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Angelica Sinense Root Extract, Cordyceps Sinensis Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Sophora Japonica Bud Extract, Scrophularia Buergeriana Root Extract, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Extract, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Flower Extract, Angelica Gigas Root, Olive Oil PEG-7 Esters, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Allantoin

My Experience:

Hyaluronic Acid is a must for me, and I love the ingredient in essences, serums, and sheet masks. Hyaluronic Acid helps keep my skin hydrated, plump, and super soft. The key to using Hyaluronic Acid products is to layer it well and then seal in all the hydration with a nice moisturizer.

The Function Hyaluronic Acid Face Mask felt really amazing on my skin. It really helped plump up my skin, in a good way. I honestly want to buy a box of these sheet masks right now, that's how good this one is. With regular use, this mask should help minimize fine lines and keep your skin glowing.

As with the Ceramide mask, the Hyaluronic Acid mask fit my face well, stuck to my skin, and absorbed easily without a sticky residue.

Company Claims:
"A function driven facial sheet mask that is uniquely formulated to deliver targeted benefits to address specific skincare concerns. Powered by two complexes crafted with 17 botanical extracts, and a marine complex made with kombu (kelp), algae, and collagen. Our Marine Complex is a unique, vitamin-rich blend of kombu extract, algae extract, and collagen. It works to deeply nourish skin, and to deliver the natural soothing and detoxifying properties of marine botanicals."

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Betaine, Laminaria Japonica Extract, Algae Extract, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Carbomer, Arginine, Butylene Glycol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Nelumbium Speciosim Flower Extract, Nepherite Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Scrophularia Buergeriana Root Extract, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Extract, Carthamus, Tinctorius (Safflower) Flower Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Phellinus Linteus Extract, Angelica Keiskei Leaf/Stem Extract, Glycine Max (Soybean) Seed Extract, Olive Oil PEG-7 Esters, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Allantoin

My Experience:

I was really intrigued by the Marine Complex mask. I love marine extracts in skincare, so I was expecting this one to be great. Unfortunately, this mask was a little lackluster. Maybe you will be able to see the benefits of the marine extracts with regular use, but you definitely won't notice a difference after using this mask one time.

The sheet mask isn't terrible, I was just not impressed. If you can find these on sale, it may be worth the money. The mask does help with hydration, so that's something.

Company Claims:
"A function driven facial sheet mask that is uniquely formulated to deliver targeted benefits to address specific skincare concerns. Powered by two complexes crafted with 17 botanical extracts, and a duo of copper + neuropeptides. Peptides strengthen skin and works to stimulate natural relaxation which helps to soften the appearance of signs of aging – for smoother, firmer skin."

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Copper Tripeptide-1, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Carbomer, Arginine, Butylene Glycol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Nelumbium, Speciosim Flower Extract, Nepherite Extract, Cordyceps Sinensis Extract, Sophora Japonica Bud Extract, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Angelica Gigas Root, Cnidium Officinale Root Extract, Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract, Artemisia Vulgaris Extract, Olive Oil PEG-7 Esters, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Allantoin

My Experience:

Can you really see anti-aging benefits from using a sheet mask once? The answer is no.

However, I do love to use anti-aging sheet masks (not always the same one) on a regular basis in the hopes that they actually work. It may sound stupid, but I don't want to stop using anti-aging sheet masks because I think they will work when used consistently. Unfortunately, I can't tell which mask is giving me results since I use a wide variety.

If you are going to purchase a box of sheet masks, the Peptide one is a great choice for aging skin. If you are just looking to purchase a single mask, maybe skip this one.

You can purchase this mask here.

>>Final Thoughts<<

My favorite sheet mask from the Kina Cosmetics Function line is the Hyaluronic Acid mask. It is honestly the best mask from the group, and I plan on purchasing a box of 10 soon.

Kina Cosmetics sheet masks were surprisingly nice quality. I'm always skeptical about $1-2 sheet masks, but I am usually surprised by how well they work out for my skin.

Overall, these sheet masks are a great affordable option for daily masking. I will be reviewing the Kina Cosmetics Superfood Sheet Mask line soon, so sign up for my monthly newsletter or you may miss the post.
