Hey Beauty Lovers!
Now that winter has arrived, it's time to change up your skincare routine.
No matter your skin type, winter is the perfect time to start using a hydrating toner.
Hydrating toners aren't like astringents. They actually provide a huge boost of moisture to the skin, a very important step for protecting the skin barrier any time of the year.
My favorite way to use hydrating toners is to apply them with the palms of my hands in 3-7 layers. You read that right! You can add up to 7 layers of hydrating toners, depending on how dehydrated your skin feels.
Here are my recommendations based on skin type...

Hydrating Toner Recommendations
Dry Skin
Dry or dehydrated skin needs some extra TLC. While all the toners in this post would work for dry skin, I highly recommend the Vegreen Nature Mucin Toner. It is very thick, like a traditional snail mucin toner, but it doesn't actually contain any snail mucin. This is a vegan version that is made with yam mucin, and it isn't "slimy" like snail mucin. This is an ultra-hydrating toner, so it may be too rich for oily skin types. I don't recommend it for combination, oily, or acne-prone skin. You can probably get away with using 1-3 layers of this toner. If you use any of the toners recommended in the other sections, you will want to use 3-7 layers, depending on how hydrating the toner feels for your skin.
Combination Skin
For combination skin, I always recommend the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner. Get the one in the clear bottle, not the one in the blue bottle. The blue bottle version is a little too thick for combination skin. I also recommend the 107 Beauty Micro Drizzle Toner. These two work best when used in 3-5 layers, depending on how oily your skin feels. The more oily the skin, the fewer layers you need to use. You can also use the toners that I recommend for oily skin, but you may need to use more layers to help with dehydrated patches of skin.
Oily Skin
Oily skin can also enjoy a boost of hydration, especially in the winter. The trick for oily skin types is to find a very light formula that won't clog the pores. I recommend the Rovectin Skin Essentials Activating Treatment Lotion, Meta Foret 12PM Calming Toner, and the Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner. All three options are fantastic for oily and acne-prone skin. They will all soothe current breakouts and help strengthen the skin barrier. Only use 1-3 layers of the toners, very oily skin should only use one layer. You will be shocked how much your skin is actually craving intense hydration. Trust me!
Sensitive Skin
Good news! All of my hydrating toner recommendations are great for sensitive skin! They contain only quality ingredients, and they are fragrance-free! The only toner I would patch test is the 107 Beauty Micro Drizzle Toner as it contains fermented vinegar as a star ingredient.
