COSRX Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner Review

This post was updated on June 9, 2022.

Hey Beauty Lovers!

In 2019, I wrote a review for the Cosrx Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner.

It wasn't a bad review, but my photography and writing style has changed a lot since my initial post.

The review was written so long ago, that I honestly can't remember much about my experience with the toner, so for this update, I purchased a new one to test out all over again.

Now that I was able to refresh my memory, I can tell you all about the Centella Water Toner, and I have to say that I changed my mind a little since my first review.

In this post, I will be talking about:

  • Key Ingredients
  • Full Ingredients
  • How to use this toner
  • My experience
  • Who would like this toner
  • Where to buy it

Are you ready for my review?

Let's get right to it...

Cosrx Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner

The Cosrx Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner is a very nice but simple hydrating toner. It will help replenish your skin after cleansing and it will prep your skin for the rest of your skincare routine.

This toner is alcohol-free, fragrance-free, paraben-free, cruelty-free, and vegan. The main ingredient is Centella Asiatica (aka Gotu Kola), so it is very soothing and repairing for the skin.

When I first tried the Centella Water toner, I was pretty much blown away. I had never tried a Centella-based toner before this one, and I couldn't believe how much it helped my skin heal from a disrupted skin barrier.

That being said, I have since tried many Centella toners, and I have to say, this one is still in my top three.

However, I have tried a few other toners that I like a lot more, including other Centella-based toners.

Keep reading until the end of this post to get my Centella toner recommendations...

Before I get to my experience with the Centella Water Toner, I want to mention the ingredients.

Key Ingredients:

  • Jeju Mineral Water (84.69%)
  • Centella Asiatica (10%)
  • Sodium Hyaluronate

Full Ingredients List:

Mineral Water, Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Betaine, Panthenol, Allantoin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ethyl Hexanediol

If you have very sensitive skin, or you are just starting on your skincare journey, this toner is a great option.

The minimal ingredients list will help you figure out what works for your skin and which ingredients are irritating for you.

This ingredients list is super clean, and the toner really does work well to boost hydration, reduce redness, and soothe the skin.

How to use: You can apply this toner with your hands, a cotton round, or spray it directly on your face. Use it after cleansing to prep your skin and throughout the day as a refreshing mist.

I personally like to spray the Centella Water Toner 2-3 times in my hands and then pat it into my skin. Since it is very hydrating, I do like to use at least three layers of this toner in both my AM and PM routines.

A little warning, the sprayer is pretty harsh. You will end up with big droplets of toner on your face, not a fine mist. Keep that in mind before spraying this toner on top of makeup.

Let's talk a little more about my experience...

I love how hydrating and soothing the Centella Water Toner was for my skin. I had recently messed up my skin barrier by using chemical exfoliants a little too often, so I was actually happy to have a bottle of this in my skincare routine again.

And now we have come full circle...

I originally purchased this toner to help heal my skin barrier, and here I am again, trying to fix the same issue.

As I mentioned before, this toner would be great for anyone with overly sensitive skin ot someone starting out on their skincare journey.

However, if you are looking for a more sophisticated Centella-based toner, I have two other recommendations:

  1. Purito Centella Green Level Hydrating Toner
  2. elmt Advanced Calming Solution (you can use code MIRIAM15 for 15% off everything on the site)

Final Thoughts

The Cosrx Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner is still one of my favorite Centella-based toners. It is perfect for anyone with sensitive skin and it is a great option for skincare beginners.
